The City Bus association of Dehradun has threatened to start a fast unto death from May 6 if the transport department fails to implement Uttarakhand High Court order and the recent directive of Governor on the contract carriage vehicles like Vikrams and Tata Magic by May 5.

The association has shot off a letter to the district Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police of Dehradun, in which the declaration of fast unto death is made.

The President of the city bus association, Vijay Vardhan Dandariyal said that the  decision was taken in a meeting of the office bearers of the association on Wednesday.

He said that the Uttarakhand HC in its order dated May 27, 2014 had clearly directed that the contract carriage vehicle like Vikrams and Tata Magics should not be allowed to pick and drop passengers from places like bus stops, railway station and other city routes. The HC had  stated that these vehicles can only transport people who have booked them.

Dandariyal said that a delegation of the association met the Governor of Uttarakhand Dr K K Paul on April 11  and apprised the situation.

He claimed that the Governor assured that the HC orders would not be allowed to violate and asked the competent authorities to take action. The association has also threatened to stop the Vikrams from plying around Clock tower area if the administration fails to act by May 05.
