The Dehradun city Bus Association has alleged irregularity in allocation of stage carriage permits to some Tata magic vehicles in Dehradun. The President of the association, Vijay Vardhan Dandariyal said that a meeting of Regional Transport Authority (RTA) was convened on March 17, 2017.
In the meeting the RTA secretary Sudhanshu Garg granted the stage carriage permits to 11 Tata Magic vehicles on Raipur- Maldevta route. Dandariyal said that interestingly in the agenda of the same RTA meeting it was also clearly mentioned that the issue of grant of stage carriage permits to small vehicles is pending in the state high court.
Questioning the propriety of granting stage carriage permits to only some Tata Magic vehicles having 7+1 seats (seven passengers with one driver) in the meeting while the issue is still pending in HC, Dandariyal alleged that the whole issue reeks of corruption. He said that in Dehradun city there are about 125 Tata Magic vehicles which are given contract carriage permits while only 11 such vehicles were given stage carriage permits. The President of association said that soon a delegation would meet the Transport secretary and demand inquiry on the matter as to why two set of rules are being followed for one type of vehicle.
