A delegation of the Association of City Buses met the Governor of Uttarakhand, KK Paul, on Monday and complained that the orders of the High Court on contract carriage vehicles are not being followed in the Capital city.
The delegation led by the president of the association, Vijay Vardhan Dandriyal, told the Governor that the HC in its order dated May 27, 2014 had clearly stated that the contract carriage vehicles like Vikrams should be stopped from picking up customers on selected routes.
The HC had asked the Secretary, Transport, District Magistrate of Dehradun and the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Dehradun to ensure that the orders are implemented. In the memorandum the association said that the orders of the court are being flouted openly and demanded that action against the erring vehicles and officials should be taken.
Dandriyal blamed the transport department officials for turning a blind eye towards the blatant violation by Vikrams, Tata Magics and tempos. He said that the HC order is clear that contract carriage vehicles cannot work as stage carriage. later the president of the association claimed that the Governor patiently heard the complaint and said that he would look into the matter.
