The Centre for Information Technology (CIT) CoES, UPES organised a “Spoken Tutorial Bouquet Workshop — Python” here on Saturday
Python is the most contemporary scripting language in the computer sciences the world and IIT Mumbai has been mandated by the Union HRD Ministry to propagate this language across India in higher educational Institutes operating in the domain of computer science courses. The workshop witnessed more than 200 participants from within UPES. The practical implementation of the knowledge gained through this workshop will take place in November 2014 when the participants will have to take a test conducted by IIT-Mumbai to earn the relevant certificate of worthiness.
Arun Dhand — Director (Media Affairs) in UPES disclosed that the CIT, UPES is currently running 10 sector specific courses in various domains of ‘Computer Sciences’ which include “Cloud Computing & Virtualisation Technologies”,“ Main Frame Technology”, “Open Source & Standards” ,“Cyber Security & Forensics”, “Telecom Informatics”, “Retail Automation”, “Oil& Gas Informatics” and “Banking, Financial & Insurance Services”. UPES runs all these courses in association with IBM which also incorporates a unique open source and standards compliant online platform called “iCOS” enabling the students an online interface with professionals of the industry for guidance and mentoring.
