Child's death: FIR to be lodged against errant officials

Published on:

Based on post-mortem report of a three-year-old child who had drowned to death in a water tank at an under construction complex at GMS Road on Tuesday, an FIR will be lodged against those involved in the project who are found guilty of negligence, said SP City Navneet Singh Bhullar on Wednesday.

Baghpat (Uttar Pradesh) native Udayveer was living at the construction site along with wife and two children while working at the site as a labourer in the evening hours. On Tuesday noon, his three-year-old son Aksha who was playing at the site fell into an uncovered water tank when his wife had gone to fetch food for her children. She started searching for Aksha who was then extracted from the water tank by labourers. The child was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Vasant Vihar Police station in-charge Pradeep Chauhan said the body was sent for postmortem and its report is awaited. No written complaint has been received from the victim’s parents so far. Observers felt that project officials’ negligence caused the death of this child. This was not the first such case of child death. Strict action should be taken against the negligent project officials to prevent such deaths in the future.
