Seventy-two children aged between six and 15 years, from 12 districts of the State, saw the Hindi version of the animation movie The lion King at the Raj Bhavan auditorium on Governor KK Paul’s invitation. In an informal interaction with the governor, the visiting children shared their camp experience with him and also made a cultural presentation on the occasion. Impressed by their cultural performance, Paul said that the visiting children from rural areas had proved that there was no dearth of talent among them.
These children reached the Raj Bhawan on Wednesday as part of the five day camp ‘Milkar Rehna Seekho’ under the aegis of Uttarakhand Child Welfare Council. The governor also felicitated the children who won various competitions organised as part of the camp. Speaking on the occasion, Paul said that such camps could play an important role in the efforts aimed at making better humans and good citizens out of children.
“When these children from different families, speaking various languages spend time together in a camp they get a chance to learn more about each other which in turn develops the sense of mutual respect and the feeling of assisting each other. Such camps also nurture the sense of social harmony and national integration among the children,” said the Governor.
