Child swapping case: DNA report confirms hosp stand

Published on:

After some reluctance, Umesh Kumar, the man who had created a high drama by alleging that her new born baby boy was changed by the Government Doon Medical College ( GDMC) hospital staff and someone else’s daughter was handed over to his wife, accepted the DNA report which proved that he is the father of the girl child.  The report which vindicated the stand of GDMC hospital administration that Umesh is father of the girl child was handed over to him on Saturday by the hospital administration in presence of the Chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Usha Negi.

On receiving the report Umesh Kumar raised suspicion on the authenticity of the report and said that the hospital administration should have provided the report in a sealed envelope to him.

On this the SCPCR chairperson Negi reprimanded him and said that it is wrong to cast doubt on authenticity of report. She said that he ( Umesh) can approach the court for the authenticity of report but warned him that if there also the fact mentioned in report are found true than a police case would be slapped on him. After this threat Umesh accepted that he is father of the girl child.

The drama started on March 4 when two pregnant women both named Arti delivered babies in the morning almost at same time. One of the women, wife of Umesh who was handed over the girl child claimed that the nurses had told that she had given birth to a boy but later she was handed over a girl child. Umesh later lodged a complaint at a local police station. After the intervention of the SCPCR, DNA test was conducted which confirmed that Umesh is the father of the girl child.
