Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna on Friday said that Chief Secretary will search the file which has been reported missing by the media. The matter of missing file came to the light after it was sought by the State Governor.

By saying that the Chief Secretary would search the file, Bahuguna tried to give a clear message to the mandarins that he would not tolerate such gimmick and eventually they would have to find out the solution. The missing file story found root after the State Government started process to fill the post of the State Election Commissioner that is lying vacant for the last fortnight.

The State Government had sent a proposal to Governor Aziz Qureshi to fill the post. In the proposal, the State Government also suggested the name of a retired IAS officer, close to it. As a result, the Governor returned the file with a note that what is the procedure to appoint the SEC.

Thereafter, State Government started searching the file that contains

information about procedure to appoint the SEC in the State. It was then the official of the department concerned came to know that the file is missing.

As this information leaked into the media, the Chief Minister took a tough stand and categorically said that the file will be located by the Chief Secretary shortly. He also rebuffed the media reports saying that the information did not have any substance.

He assured that the Chief Secretary will find out the file shortly. A senior official, who was not interested to make any official comment about the file, indicated that the file is yet to be located. Incidentally, at a time when the Congress-led UPA Government facing wrath of Opposition over the missing files related to Coalgate, case of missing file has surfaced in the Congress Government-led Uttarakhand.
