With an intention to rebuild the shattered image of Uttarakhand, Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar has reacted to public statement about rescued people saying that the army and private choppers rescued them and State Government did not do anything for their rescue. The CS said that all private choppers were acquired by the State for this so whosoever is saying that State has not done anything is unaware of facts.
With the evacuation of 155 people including 78 by foot and 77 by air, State Government has managed to evacuate 100 percent stranded people except locals, priests and Mana villagers, who will be evacuated in next few days.
“As far as project is concerned then 968 potable water projects were washed away in cloud burst but we managed to restore most of the projects by July 2 and remaining 130 projects will be restored by July 10. As far as road connectivity is concerned then 1898 roads were washed away and affected 4200 villages of the state. We have rebuilt 1322 roads and 3101 villages were connected with road temporarily. Remaining villages will have to wait because their roads restoration will take few more months. As per the assessment district administration has sought 385 JCB and 5200 labourer for the restoration of roads. Although it will take few more weeks but we have fixed our target to restore the road by July 31,” he said.
As far as power scenario then connectivity to 3758 villages was damaged due to rain and power has been restored to 3618 hamlets so far. “There is rough estimation that we would be able to restore power in remaining 240 hamlets by September 15. Out of 240 major hamlets founds in three districts including 37 in Rudraprayag district, 96 in Uttarkashi and 61 in Chamoli district”.
Reacting to the rescued pilgrims making allegations against the state government by saying that they were rescued either by Army or private choppers only, Kumar said that people should know the fact that after disaster we engaged all private choppers for rescue and relief works. It seems government has awaken after more than a fortnight to rebuild the image.
He further made it clear that during rescue and relief operation there is no difference between State and Union Government because we work as government representative so please stop running such news that State Government failed to do so.
