In a bid to assess the ground situation of the ongoing Char Dham Yatra, Chief Minister Harish Rawat visited Badrinath on Tuesday along with his family members, including wife Renuka Rawat and daughter Anupma Rawat and a host of his party men. Before paying obeisance to the lord Badrinath, he visited the lambagad and Bainakuli slide zone and interacted with BRO and PWD officials. He instructed the officials to find out permanent solutions to the dangers lurking in the sliding zones. He also enquired into the preparation and precautionary measures being taken to mitigate the loss in case of disaster. During the interaction, he ordered the officials to ensure that the roads are open round the clock. He said he would not brook any excuse on the matter. CM also interacted with the pilgrims and enquired whether they were facing any inconvenience. He said he had begged forgiveness from lord Badrinath for whatever mistakes he had committed
inadvertently.
He reiterated that the State government wants the roads to be open under all circumstances at any cost. ”I am a servant of the people and so I would do everything to ensure that the pilgrims enjoy a glitch-free pilgrimage,” he said.
later in the day, he convened a review meeting with the district level officers at Govindghat. During the meeting, he was told by the officials that BRO is filling up the craters. CM asked the PWD officials to step in promptly where BRO fails in its task. “ The potholes must be filled during the night hours so as to spare the pilgrims inconvenience,” CM said.
He also enquired into the upcoming Hemkund Sahib Yatra slated to start on May 25. He asked the drinking water department to repair all the damaged pipelines on a priority basis.
Electricity department officials apprised him of the fact that they have resumed the power supply by May 15.
CM further said that the wooden bridges must be repaired and alternate arrangements must be made for the pedestrians.
He also said that in view of space crunch for parking in Pulna, traffic should be regulated from Govind Ghat. He asked the officials concerned to allow vehicles as per the space available so as to help the pilgrims avoid any inconvenience during the journey. PWD officials apprised CM that on way to Hemkund Sahib, they have installed signboards at numerous places. Besides, works on the construction of toilets are going on in full swing, they told the CM.
