Check development work, CS tells officials

Published on:

The State chief secretary Subhash Kumar has given directions to the additional chief secretary, all principal secretaries, secretaries and secretaries in-charge to visit the districts and verify development work. They should hold meeting with the officers of the districts they have been made in-charge of. If there is a problem in any department, the person concerned must come to headquarter and solve the problem.

The CS further said that based on the reports filed last year, it has been found that the work of few officials is commendable though a few principal secretaries have under performed. This is being taken into consideration in the annual confidential report for the year 2013-14. Kumar has ordered that in the coming two weeks, a report of the

inspection carried out during district visits must be filed with comments to the chief minister and the CS.

In another development, the chief secretary has expressed dissatisfaction at the failure of bureaucrats to provide the information sought regarding the Dan Singh versus State Government and others writ petition. In a letter written to all principal secretaries and secretaries Kumar has said that the principal secretaries and secretaries concerned will be held guilty if not providing the sought information on time amounts to dishonouring the High Court order. He warned that if the sought information is not provided by 11 AM on Tuesday, adverse entries will be made for negligence on duty for the officers concerned.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Uttarakhand High Court had sought information from the State government regarding personnel appointed in various departments under the Statehood activists’ quota. In the Dan Singh versus State Government write petition, the chief secretary had on July 16 called a meeting and had issued instructions to officials to providing information related to their respective departments by July 22 in the required format. The State government is to submit an affidavit in the High Court on August 7 in

this regard.
