The effects of the customary work culture of Government corporations ill-reputed for work inefficiency are being felt presently in one of the Char Dham shrines-Badrinath.
The Badrinath shrine visited by lakhs of people every year from across the globe, was supposed to be provided with 3G facility during the ongoing Yatra season by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam limited (BSNl). However, with the Char Dham Yatra having reached the concluding phase for this year, the planned 3G facility has not yet been provided in Badrinath.
Due to factors like road connectivity, Badrinath is among the Char Dham shrines which attracts lakhs of people every year from different parts of India and abroad.
With the pilgrimage season now nearing its conclusion, the corporation has not yet done the needful to provide the 3G facility in Badrinath. Observers opine that inefficiency and other factors in the functioning of the public sector units of the nation appear to be affecting the successful implementation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India programme.
The assistant general manager of the corporation averred that all the various items have arrived to facilitate the provision of 3G facility in Badrinath. The 3G facility will be started soon in this pilgrimage centre, added the BSNl AGM.
A few months back back, the rainfall being experienced in the region was cited as the reason by officials for holding the work, with the corporation officials declaring that the facility will start operating in the near future. Now, even the rains have evidently ended but the required work has still not being started.
When asked about the issue, the BSNl AGM at Srinagar spoke of a technical team from Delhi expected to arrive. Work will begin from this week and the facility will be made available very soon, said the AGM.
However, skeptics point out that the work of facilitating the operation of 3G facility in Badrinath which should have been up and running by now, is yet to be provided with the Yatra season nearing its closure for the winter. Questions are being raised as to whether it will be possible for the authorities concerned to ensure the start of this facility within this year itself.
