Champion questions police action, accuses Karnwal of lodging false case

Khanpur MLA Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ has questioned the actions of the police in the case lodged by his Jhabreda counterpart Deshraj Karnwal, adding that the police had not taken any action on his complaint so far. He has mailed his contentions to the director general of police and has also sought time to meet the chief minister.

Addressing the media at his residence here on Friday, the Khanpur MLA alleged that Karnwal had lodged a case against him on December 12 on the basis of falsified information provided to the police.

He explained, “Karnwal started making questionable statements against me and my wife at a Press conference on March 22.  My supporters got angry and held a Press conference, though I did not comment.  When he started making further objectionable comments, I lodged an FIR on April 7.

During May he lodged a petition in the High Court and made me a party, after which I filed a writ against him in the high court. In July, I did not make any comment in the media on the directions of the chief minister but Karnwal continued with his statements. After receiving a notice from the HC, he lodged a case under the SC/ST Act against me.

I find it odd that the police are acting swiftly on his complaint but have done nothing on my complaint. I have e-mailed the director general of police and have also sought time to meet the chief minister regarding this.”

Regarding the future course of action he is planning, Champion said that though expelled from the BJP, he will follow the instructions of the chief minister and the party’s state leadership.
