Chamba-Mussoorie road's condition still not normal

Published on:

Four days after the region experienced snowfall, the condition of the Chamba-Mussoorie motor road has not yet fully reverted to normal condition. At some places the thin icy layer formed on the road surface has made driving a risky proposition that has affected the tourist traffic on this road. The sub divisional magistrate, Dhanaulti has directed the Doiwala office of the national highway authority to use lime powder for clearing the road.

It should be mentioned here that after snowfall on Saturday, the authorities had cleared the snow off the Chamba-Mussoorie motor road using an excavator on Sunday. However, roadway icing has made travel on the road risky. Stretches of this road at Buranskhanda, Dhanaulti, Kanatal, Jwarna and other locations have been affected by icing posing difficulties for vehicle users- especially two-wheeler riders who sustain injuries in falls due to lack of traction on the iced road surface. District Panchayat member Amendra Bisht said that vehicles were skidding on such sections of the road. The Dhanaulti SDM lakshmi Raj Chauhan said that the NH Doiwala office had been directed to sprinkle lime powder to clear the ice.
