To ensure safety of the students enrolled in the Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls Schools (KGRGS), the State education department has decided to install Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in these schools.

In the first phase CCTV cameras would be installed in four KGRGS. A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of State Project Office here on Monday. The meeting was presided over the Director General (DG) of School education, D Senthil Pandian.

In the meeting it was also decided that eminent subject experts would be invited once a week to deliver lectures to the students. The DG also suggested that one WhatsApp group consisting of the wardens of these schools and officers of State project office should be made on which pictures of day to day activities in these schools are circulated.

He also ordered addition of local food items in the menu and initiation of personality development classes in KGRGS of the State. Pandian said that innovations employed by other government girls’ residential schools operating in other states should be studied and implemented in KGRGS of the State.

He said that a meeting comprising education department officers and officers of administration should be called to ensure 100 percent enrollment in these schools.
