In an appreciable move, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to introduce the provision of "re-evaluation" at the Senior Secondary level (Class XII). In a recent communiqué the board made this provision for those students who are not satisfied with the marks they received. The board will provide this facility to the candidates apart from the verification of marks and providing photocopies of the evaluated answer sheets.
The last date for sending the request for verification of marks for the recently released Class XII examination is May 5. The students who are dissatisfied with their results can apply for online verification of their marks and the results of verification of marks would be uploaded on the Net.
The board would also send the copy of marks after verification at the address of the candidate. If the candidate is not satisfied with the verification of the marks then he can ask for the photocopies of the evaluated answer sheets.
The board charges a fee of Rs 700 per subject for this facility and the candidates can apply between June 20 to June 26 to see how their copies are evaluated by the examiners. In case the student finds any error in totaling of marks or finds that the answer is not evaluated he can approach the regional office within seven days.
The CBSE has made provision for re-evaluation this year but this facility would be provided to only those candidates who have applied for verification and demanded the photocopies of evaluated answer sheets. The Board has started the practice of reevaluation in the subjects of English Core, English Elective, Functional English, Hindi Core, Hindi Elective, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business Studies, economics and Accountancy.
The candidates who want the reevaluation of their answer sheets can submit an online application from June 28 to July 4.
The CBSE would annul the marks obtained in the first evaluation if there is a variation of +5 marks or more in the subject concerned after the reevaluation and issue a fresh statement of marks.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) set up a new regional office at Dehradun in the month of January this year to serve the students of 1378 schools of Uttarakhand and Western Uttar Pradesh.
The declaration of class XII results on May 30 saw protests by many students who alleged that there they got much less marks than expected.
