The State Health minister Surendra Singh Negi said that by obtaining accurate and complete information on AIDS and with a little caution, AIDS can be avoided.
He said this while addressing a programme organised by Uttarakhand State AIDS Control Society (USACS) to mark World AIDS Day at Parade Ground in Dehradun on Tuesday. He further said that role of the Information Education and Communication (IEC) and Intervention Project are crucial in preventing the spread of HIV virus in High Risk Group and population, in general.
Earlier, the students of the colleges, NSS and NCC and different schools and the members of Red Ribbon Club took out a rally from Gandhi Park to Parade Ground.
Over 1000 students participated in the rally.
Rajpur Road MlA Rajkumar said that the greatest bar to controlling AIDS is the disdain and the prejudice associated with it. “It is our ignorance that we behave insensitively with the afflicted. We have to ensure that such discrimination should end,” he added.
