Acting on a complaint recorded by a person at Bank Fraud Complaint Cell of Cyber Crime Police Station, saying that some fraudsters had spirited away ` 3.80 lakh from his Standard Charted Bank account, police claimed to have recovered the amount from Bank of China limited based in China.

A person residing in Vansant Vihar had registered a complaint at Bank Fraud Complaint Cell of Cyber Crime Police Station two days ago, stating that ` 3.80 lakh had been spirited away from his Standard Charted Bank account by unidentified persons.

Team was formed subsequently to investigate the case. In course of investigation, police found that money had been withdrawn by unidentified persons living overseas. Team members approached the local Standard Charted Bank for further clues to the whereabouts of the persons involved in the fraud following which they talked to the officials of Bank of China limited. The money was later returned to the account of the complainant.

STF Uttarakhand SSP Renuka Devi said that whenever such frauds are detected, those at the receiving end should promptly approach the police station concerned or Bank Fraud Complaint Cell of Cyber Crime Police Station. “The sooner they approach us or the police the greater is the possibility of the stolen money being recovered,” she added.
