Blatantly ignoring the social distancing norms and other precautions in view of the Covid-19 pandemic during the protest proved costly for the Congress leaders again when administration registered cases against them on Monday.

Cases were registered against a total of 40 Congress leaders including Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Pritam Singh and former chief minister and general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Harish Rawat. Criticising the Government for adopting a partisan attitude towards Congress leaders, the Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana claimed that Congressmen were carrying umbrellas to maintain social distancing.

He added that cases should be registered against BJP leaders and workers also as on many occasions they had openly violated social distancing norms.
