State Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that all the cases lodged against some BJP leaders and workers on trumped up charges during the Congress regime, would be withdrawn. The party workers who gathered there greeted the announcement with joyous slogans. He made this announcement while addressing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s workers, who had gathered to honour chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on the occasion of state foundation day here in Dehradun on Thursday.
The Observers say that it is a standard practice that the ruling party frames the leaders and the activists of the principal opposition party in cases related to defacement and damage of public property and the like to keep them under pressure. “There is nothing new in it. Neither is there anything new in the opposition party on becoming the ruling party scrapping such cases,” said one of them.
However, the BJP workers sounded exulted over the CM’s announcement, saying that Rawat had not forgotten them even after ascending to the top post of the State.
“This is a gesture which must enthuse the party cadres in taking the CM as their own man despite the distance his gaudy post has put between him and us, the ordinary cadres,” said a BJP activist who erupted in joy along with others once the CM announced the decision.
Echoing the same sentiment, state BJP spokesperson Vinay Goel said that the CM has won the hearts of the party workers while empathising with the plight of the ordinary workers. “He won the heart of the people of the state by taking stringent action against the corrupt officials a few days after he assumed charge. Now, he has won the hearts of the party rank and file while commiserating with the suffering of the workers who were framed in fabricated cases by the previous vindictive regime,” Goel said.
