Despite 10 days having passed since two unidentified criminals beat the security guard of an ATM, leaving him seriously injured, Dehradun police are still stumbling in the dark about their identity. The incident occurred at Oriental Bank of India located at Selaqui, Sahaspur on April 5 night.
Police were informed that failing to loot a bank’s ATM located at Selaqui, Sahaspur on 5 April night, two unidentified criminals had beat the security guard, leaving him seriously injured and escaped.
Police station officer said that teams have been formed and deployed at various places to nab the accused.
To speed things up, CCTV camera which was installed in the ATM has been recovered, the cops probing the case said, adding that police were reviewing CCTV footages to find out the identity of the miscreants.
“Ten days are a long time to crack the case, particularly against the backdrop of the ATMs turning easy prey to the miscreants. A great many attempts to loot ATMs, some of them daring such as what happened at Roorkee in October 2015, are occurring here with police being lethargic to crack them promptly and stopping their recurrence. A security guard on duty at an ATM in Udham Singh Nagar was hacked to death by those who attempted to loot the ATM in Kashipur in August 2015. We expect the police to be hyper-active to protect the ATMS,” said an observer.
