Candidates contesting for different posts of panchayat outsmarted those who had participated in the recently concluded lok Sabha polls in terms of campaigning on the last day of election campaign on Sunday held for the last phase of polling to be held in Haldwani and Bhimtal blocks on June 24.
Amid sloganeering use of loud speakers and huge carvan of vehicles only gave that impression. The interesting fact is that though candidates in lok Sabha elections also tried their best using all means of communication to reach out to the voters, use of loud speakers accompanied by a huge number of vehicles including open jeeps, two wheelers and other mode of vehicles was not visible at least in this Haldwani region in April when the poll campaign for the general elections was at its peak in such large scale as was witnessed in rural areas of Haldwani and Bhimtal blocks on Sunday.
However, candidates who are in the fray for the panchayat elections, could be seen in rural areas of Haldwani and Bhimtal blocks trying their best to woo the voters on Sunday and conducted road shows in Haldwani and Bhimtal block on the last of campaigning.
In the meantime, Baladutt Kholiya, candidate for gram pradhan from gram panchayat, Halduchaur Deena, also conducted road shows in many villages including Subedar Farm, Parma, Jayram Deena to name a few villages and urged the villagers to support him in the upcoming panchayat elections.
If an opportunity is given to him, to improve the conditions of basic services including drinking water, roads, electricity would be his top priority, he added.
