Song Saga
A new song directed at the head of TSR Government has suddenly become a talking point in Uttarakhand. In the song and the accompanying video, a direct assault is made on State’s chief in highly derogatory manner ostensibly under the garb of raising social issues like rape of children, migration menace and ill effects of liquor in the State. It is clear that the singer has tried to emulate legendary Narendra Singh Negi whose songs created discomfiture for two Chief Ministers while they were in power, but those going through the video vouch that he has failed miserably. The song however has caught the BJP leadership and the coterie of State’s chief between proverbial devil and deep blue sea. Any legal action has the potential to create unwarranted public sympathy for the singer and producers of the controversial video while no action would be perceived as sign of weakness.
Shouting Sympathisers
The move of the Congress State unit to create a special team of loudmouthed youths so that the highly vocal slogan shouting workers of BJP are matched word to word in public discourses is being seen with scepticism within the party. The cynics are terming it as an attempt by the camp of party’s State chief to avert embarrassing situation in party functions where slogans of former Chief Minister Harish Rawat create such a din that others including the party State chief are relegated to background. They point out that a close lieutenant of the party State chief came up with the idea of creating a highly trained team of slogan shouters which would outshout the foot soldiers of indomitable Harish Rawat in party functions and prevent their leader from becoming red faced.
Man Friday
An engineer of Uttar Pradesh cadre working on deputation in the Medical Education Department of Uttarakhand has become irksome for the employees of the department for he is too intrusive, poking his nose in every affair. This engineer handpicked and virtually foisted on the department by an all powerful bureaucrat last year is dubbed as a Man Friday of the mighty Babu, functions as his pointsman in the department and evinces keen interest in the construction and other projects involving moolah. What is intriguing that most in the department are unaware about the designation or qualification of this officer forced over them by the higher ups. Everything seemed to be going smoothly for this person till recently when the bureaucrat assigned the task of heading medical education department started taking note of his dubious activities and ordered an inquiry. With relations between his master and the bureaucrat heading the department getting strained, it is learnt that the Man Friday has decided to pack his bags for his native State.
