TSR Bolstered

The pat on back given by the BJP president Amit Shah to Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat during the former’s recent visit to Dehradun has boosted the camp followers of TSR in Uttarakhand. Shah minced no words while heaping accolades on Uttarakhand CM while addressing booth level workers of Tehri and Haridwar parliamentary constituencies at Parade Ground. He particularly praised TSR for pursuing his policy of ‘zero tolerance on corruption’ and bringing every resident of the state under ‘Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand’ scheme. Shah clearly gave hints to the detractors of TSR within the saffron outfit about who actually is the boss in Uttarakhand. With virtual carte blanche given to TSR by the party’s top brass, it would be interesting to note the strategy adopted by his opponents within the party and how dexterously the  CM  steers the party in the crucial Lok Sabha polls in a state where all five seats fell into kitty of BJP in 2014.

Relieved Babus

Removal of a key department which apart from being the biggest one in terms of the employee strength remains one of the most testing assignments for those spearheading it, from one of a female bureaucrats has brought smiles back on the faces of all Babus, big and small of the department. This female officer known for her obstinate behaviour and fickle ways had become a headache for those associated with the gargantuan department. Her brusque approach and devil may care style had even annoyed the Minister heading the department on many occasions and he reportedly played a pivotal role in divesting her of the charge of the department. Those associated with the department point out that by handing over the charge to an officer known for his efficient ways and smooth behaviour, things are likely to head towards positive direction in the department.

Colonel’s calculations

To fulfill his long cherished dream, a colonel who recently hanged his military boots, is all set to take an electoral plunge. It is apparent that the retired colonel who is known for training the youngsters of the Himalayan state for Armed forces and his role in aftermath of the Kedarnath deluge has targeted Garhwal parliamentary constituency for his debut in politics. Those close to him aver that he is primarily banking on BJP to give him a ticket from Garhwal but in case BJP fails to play ball with him, he can seek ticket from Congress or even contest independently.  To buttress his claim, the flamboyant colonel is taking help of friends in media who have set rumour mills running that since RSS is strongly advocating his name, the colonel is all set to join BJP in presence of Amit Shah. However during the recent visits of Amit Shah and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, the colonel was not seen anywhere near them. Unperturbed, the buddies of the colonel are confident about his entry in BJP and party’s ticket from Garhwal constituency.
