To address the employees’ grievances on issues like anomalies in salary, perks, promotions, the committee, constituted with additional chief secretary Rakesh Sharma at the helm, is all set to have its first meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday. An appeal has been made to all the employees’ associations to participate in it to enable the committee to duly deliberate on the issues before it decides things on their welfare.
The committee comprises three members — ACS Rakesh Sharma, Principal Secretary Personnel Radha Raturi and Secretary Personnel & Convener PS Jangpagi.
Talking to The Pioneer, Jangpangi said that the Cabinet had constituted a committee and assigned it the task to look into the salary anomaly, departmental structure, promotion, direct recruitment through promotion and other pending issues concerning the employees.
“We have invited nine associations — Uttarakhand Federation of Ministerial Services Association, Uttaranchal Ex- Employee Teachers’ Association, State Employees’ Joint Council, Uttarakhand Diploma Services Federation, Engineering Drying Services Federation, Uttarakhand Personal Assistant and Personal Officer Federation, Government Vehicle Drivers’ Federation, Fourth Class State Employee Federation and Uttarakhand Secretariat Association.
He further said that other employees’ unions, not mentioned above, can also send two of their representatives to the meeting that would commence at 2.30 pm on February 25.
It has been noticed that the state government often takes decisions under the influence of some of these associations and this triggers strike by others left at bay. This is one of the reasons behind strikes being frequently resorted to in the state. To ensure such things do not recur, the state government had constituted the committee and assigned it to evolve an amicable solution of the employees’ problems through taking all the associations on board.
