The Dehradun city bus federation has demanded an in-depth inquiry in the penalty scam of Regional Transport Office (RTO) of Dehradun. A delegation of the federation met Transport Minister Yashpal Arya on Friday. The President of the Federation Vijay Vardhan Dandariyal said that the department is protecting officers in the scam and has only taken action against junior employees.
He told the minister that the login ids of officers were used by the perpetrators of the scam which could not have occurred without involvement of the officers. In the penalty scam, the government exchequer was drained off lakhs of Rupees by reducing the penalty on the fitness of vehicles.
When the scam was unearthed the department suspended one accountant and one clerk. The city bus federation is now demanding that action against officers involved in the scam should also be taken.
