The City Bus Association has blamed the unauthorised Vikrams and Tata Magics for traffic congestion in the State capital. A delegation of the association met the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun on Friday and demanded action against these vehicles.

The SSP, Sadanand Date told the delegation that bus operators should not overcrowd the area around busy lansdowne Chowk of the city. It was agreed that landmarks from where city buses of different routes start from parade ground would be made and only two buses would be allowed to stand there at a time. The SSP also asked the bus operators not to stop their vehicles at certain traffic bottlenecks.

Informing about the meeting the President of City Bus association, Vijay Vardhan Dandariyal said that SSP was informed about the illegal plying of the Vikrams and Tata Magics in the roads of the city. He said that the association expressed its resentment on imposing penalties on the city buses and exempting the Vikrams which are illegally plying.  The delegation said that the buses are the having the stage carriage permits and are the only vehicles eligible to pick commuters on routes. Dandariyal said that association extended its total support to SSP’s plan to improve the traffic condition of the city.
