Burglary in the house of a circle officer AS Rawat on Friday night has exposed the chinks in the police department while it has left the common people scared.
CO Rawat is now working in Almora district. His residence at Jogiwala in Nehru Colony was burgled, police said.
The criminals had broken into the house around midnight on Saturday, removing the grill and decamped with jewelleries, cash and a car, police added.
Circle officer AK Pandey claimed to have formed several teams, including one comprising SOG personnel, to crack the case at the earliest.
However, police are yet to make any headway. Dehradun SSP Sadanand Date has reverted two constables- Mange Ram and Rajeev Kumar deputed at Jogiwala police post to police lines by way of punishment posting.
The burglary in the house of the CO came close on the heels of another burglary that was reported from the
residence of an inspector located in the same Nehru Colony area when he was deputed to Haridwar on Ardh Kumbh duty.
The two burglaries in the houses of police officers following one another have left the common people residing in the area scared. “If the residents of police officers are not safe where we do standIJ” asked one of them.
