Scores of Basic Training Certificat(BTC) teachers staged protest in Dehradun on Tuesday in support of their year long pending demands and also threatened to intensify their agitation in the near future, if their demands were not met by the State Government in the given time frame.

Infuriated over the callous approach of the State Government for not fulfilling their year long pending demands, trained BTC teachers took out rally from Parade Ground, Dehradun to Chief Minister’s residents in Dehradun on Tuesday.

The also shouted anti Government slogans and also lamented that memorandum highlighting their demands was submitted many times to top bureaucrats and ministers but steps are yet to be introduced by the State Government in this regard.

The agitators said that they had several rounds of talks with the Government, but failed to reach a consensus.

However, their protest march in support of their demands was foiled by the police, which stopped the protesters near Hathi-Bar-Kala, Dehradun on the way to Chief Minister’s residence.

The agitators started protest at the site and also shouted anti government slogans.

The protestors and the police had confrontation as they were insisting to go to Chief Minister’s residence. The protestors demanded from the State Government to give appointments to them as they are equally qualified.

“We were promised jobs after we were deployed in schools where there is shortage of teachers. We were promised that we would be absorbed in the Department of Education but the government did not pay any heed to our demands,” said protestors.” The agitators cleared that they will intensify their agitation in the near future in support of their pending demands.

later, in a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister, the teachers threatened to intensify their agitation if their genuine demand for appointment as regular Government teachers was not accepted immediately by the State Government.
