The State Working Committee of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) would be reconstituted in next 10 days and it would be a judicious mixture of youth and experience. This was stated by newly appointed State BSP chief, CP Singh while interacting with The Pioneer on Sunday.
He said that his top priority would be to reclaim the lost ground of the party in this hill State. Singh who recently retired from Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) said that he would soon start an extensive tour of the State where he would emphasize on inclusion of all sections of society in to the fold of the party.
On the question of repeated failure of the BSP to make its presence felt in the mountainous areas of the State, Singh said that sincere efforts would be made to strengthen the party at grass root level in all parts of the State.
He said that he would try to ensure that appropriate representation would be given to party leaders in the working committee but added that indiscipline would not be tolerated.
The handing over of party reins to CP Singh and expulsion of six senior party leaders in Uttarakhand highlights the importance the BSP supremo, Mayawati gives to the state. After the serious drubbing the party got in the recent lok Sabha elections Mayawati had dissolved all party units in state.
The party which was continuously increasing its vote share in the State as it got 6.77 per cent votes in general elections of 2004 and impressed everyone with 15.2 per cent vote share in the general elections of 2009 recorded its worst performance in the lok Sabha elections as its vote share reduced drastically to 4.71 percent.
On Saturday the party announced expulsion of Suraj Mal, Dr Nathi Ram, Anoop Singh, Azad Vir, Padam Singh and Jagdish Prasad for anti party activities. The importance the party gives to Uttarakhand can be gauged from the fact that one of the senior most leader of party Naseemuddin Siddiqui has been handed over the post of party in charge along with Nathu Singh and Ramachal Rajbhar.
