Eyes focused on the Governor with the State being under the President’s Rule, the former head clerk of CSC/RPF office of Central Railway, Mumbai Manju Sree Jain has raised again the harassment charges against DGP BS Sidhu on Wednesday, appealing to the Governor to take action against the top cop of the State before he retires on April 30.
Notably, the case has been pending before the Mumbai High Court. According to her, she had registered a complaint of sexual harassment against Sidhu in the police station concerned, but due to his pressure, no report had been registered against him.
“I along with the former vice-president of State Youth Welfare Council and a senior State BJP leader Ravindra Jugran went to Dalanwala police station to register an FIR. But the Dalanwala police officer said that they would not lodge any FIR, citing the case being sub-judice,” she said.
She threatened to end her life unless the Government steps in to punish the cop adequately. Sidhu was unavailable for comment. However, a police release rejected her allegations as gibberish.
She alleged that the State DGP and then Chief Security commissioner/RPF Sidhu had physically harassed her at his office in 2004. “I worked in the department for about 14 years till February
2005. Sidhu had harassed me as I refused to indulge his advances. He asked me to join him for lunch or dinner, offers I rejected. This incurred his anger and he warned me that I would face consequences. Subsequently, I was terminated from the department in February 2005,” Jain said.
She further said she was feeling insecure as Sidhu might use his power to have her shot. “I would rather commit suicide to avoid being shot by Sidhu. I am asking the Governor to either take action against Sidhu or allow me the option of euthanasia,” she said.
Jain averred that she would continue to fight till her last breath until Sidhu is punished. She threw a dare to the Governor, saying that in case no action follows it would mean that the Governor is intent on shielding the accused cop.
Spewing fire against then State Government, she said that though she had been called by then State Government to record her statement around 10 days ago things were deferred.
“He used his power to have me thrown out of the job in 2005,” she said, adding that now he is bent on physically eliminate me. “If anything happens to any of my family members Sidhu will be held squarely responsible,” she warned.
She said that Sidhu had formed a committee comprising his juniors and had her service terminated on the basis of the report the committee had filed. “A fresh committee should be formed that would comprise officers senior to Sidhu,” she demanded. She further said she was not the only woman to suffer at the hands of the cop. “Several other women constables in Meerut and Jhansi have had similar experiences,” she said.
She said she had also submitted an appeal to the Uttarakhand Human Rights Commission in November 2015, but to no avail.
