The examinations for the newly-constituted cadre of Block Resource Person (BRP) and Cluster Resource Person (CRP) in the education department was conducted on Wednesday. The examination was organised at 13 District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) on Wednesday.

The State Council of Education and Training (SCERT) conducted the examination for 1,259 posts of BRP and CRP cadre for the education department. Chief Education officer (CEO) of Dehradun S P Khali told the Pioneer that 81 out of 91 enrolled candidates for BRP appeared at Dehradun centre similarly only 97 candidates out of total 147 enrolled appeared for examination of CRP.

It is worth mentioning here that the education department is meeting stiff resistance from the existing Block Resource Coordinators (BRC) and Cluster Resource Coordinators (CRC) on the issue of creating a separate cadre. The serving BRC and CRC are opposing the new cadre as they would be sent back to their original cadres after the new appointments.

CRP and BRP are the basic positions of the education department who are assigned the tasks of training and monitoring the activities of the teachers. Incidentally the department is conducting the recruitment for these posts after a gap of nearly ten years. The serving Head Masters of Primary schools, Assistant teachers of middle schools and lecturer Teachers (lT) with a service of five years are eligible for being appointed as BRP and CRP.
