There is a big social stigma associated with the infertility in India as there is a general tendency to blame women for not bearing the child, said the Head of department of Gynecology at Mahjant Indiresh hospital, Dr Vinita Gupta while talking with The Pioneer at the sidelines of the workshop on Friday. She revealed that men and women are equally responsible for infertility.
The statistics show that men are responsible for 40 percent of total infertility cases. The women’s share in infertility is also 40 percent while in 20 percent cases both male and female partners are responsible. Dr Gupta said that men usually are afraid to get their fertility status checked and force their wives to get examined again and again for infertility. She said that infertility can be treated like measures like In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
