In a fresh shot in the arm, post demonetisation drive, noted Bollywood actor Himani Bhatt Shivpuri has joined BJP in the presence of the State vice- president of the party Jyoti Gairola and general secretary Naresh Bansal at the state BJP headquarters on Wednesday. She said that she was joining the party inspired by the policies of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and of his party.
“As I am from Uttarakhand I nurture a strong desire to do something for the betterment of the state. Politics is the means through which I can do something for my state. Though I stay in Mumbai I am strongly aware of my roots here,” she said.
“I am pained by the fact that despite 16 years having passed since Uttarakhand came into being, the state is yet to see much of development as per the expectation of the people who fought heart and soul to achieve the statehood. I would contribute my bit in whatever capacity the party bestows on me,” the actor said.
Welcoming her into the saffron folds, Bansal said that the spree of renowned people joining his party showed that the PM and BJP were on the right tracks.
