Body of a semi-naked woman aged around 25 years being found at Beriparav within a stone-throw distance from Halduchaur police post of lalkuan Kotwali on Monday- the latest of the series of crimes being reported from the area against the minors and the women-has deepened the panic among the people. Police rushed to the spot upon being informed.
The body which was sent for autopsy was yet to be identified while the story was being filed, though police said that the body bore injuries indicating that she might have been raped before being killed.
Police said that they are working on several angles to solve the case. CCTV footages of the incident site were being reviewed, they said, adding that a case under appropriate sections of IPC was registered against unidentified persons in the police station. Team has been formed to investigate the case, a police officer probing the case said, adding that as per preliminary investigation based on CCTV footages recovered from a school near the incident site revealed a scuffle between woman and the miscreants.
“We have evidences on the basis of which we can say that she was raped and then strangled to death with a scarf and thereafter, the criminals dumped her nearly disrobed body on the road at Halduchaur. Her sandal was found lying near her body,” said the police officer while providing details of the case.
The body was first spotted by the locals near a school in the morning and informed police.
