A blast at a scrap dealer’s shop at Mangalaur village near Roorkee left five, including a nine-year-old girl, injured.  The condition of three out of the injured is stated to be serious. Probe is on into the blast, said the SSP Haridwar Ridhim Agarwal.

The blast occurred at around 11.30 am when Jafaryab was working at the shop. The intensity of the blast was strong, said the people who were near the shop. At least 4 persons, including the nine-year-old girl, besides the owner of the shop sustained splinter injuries.

The three seriously injured were referred to a higher medical centre in Meerut and Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences at Jolly Grant.

Speaking to The Pioneer, SSP Haridwar, Ridhim Agarwal, said, “It is probable that some explosives mixed with the scrap blasted. Our team has collected the samples and the investigation is on.”

“Since a lot of scrap comes from the Army area to the dealer we are concerned. We are seeing to it that such blast does not recur,” added the SSP.

Teams of anti-bomb squad and intelligence have reached the spot to investigate the blast.
