BJYM protests against cheating petrol pumps

Accusing some petrol pump owners of cheating the customers through their employees regarding the quantum of the fuel being filled, dozens of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists protested at the office of weights and measures department, Dehradun on Monday and submitted a memorandum to the department officer, asking them to take stern actions against the offenders. The protesters warned that the association would intensify its protest across the State if the demands are not met soon.

The BJYM activists led by BJYM Mahanagar president Vipin Rana assembled at the office and sat on demonstration by shouting slogans against the administration. According to protesters, the people are outraged over petrol pump operators defrauding the customers regarding quantum of the petrol being filled in their vehicles.

“The people are already anguished over hiked base price of VAT on petrol. Now the fact that they are being cheated by the petrol pump operators in the form of less fuel being given than what they pay for is driving them to rage. Things would explode unless the administration steps in and take measures against the errant petrol pump operators. The customers must get what they pay for and it is the administration’s duty to ensure that.  To do that, they should install CCTV cameras at the petrol pumps,” Rana said.
