In protest against the pathetic transportation system in the State capital, the activists of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJVM) staged a protest at Regional Transport Office (RTO) on Monday. The agitators expressed anguish at the fact that the public transport operators have not reduced the fare even after huge reduction in the fuel prices.
They demanded that the fares and freight should be reduced to bring relief to the common people. The agitators submitted a memorandum to Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Sandeep Saini. In the memorandum the BJYM expressed its grave concern on rising cases of accidents caused by negligent and rash driving of the public transport vehicles.
They said that the transport department should strictly enforce the maximum speed limit rule for the Vikrams and city bus operators. The memorandum also highlighted the problem of overloading in the city transport vehicles and regretted the fact that the transport department has turned a blind eye towards such vehicles.
The agitators said that stern action should be taken against bike racers who not only risk their lives but also put the lives of common people in peril.
