The BJP leaders in Uttarakhand are uneasy because of the performance of the Congress-led State Government. Opposition leaders have the right to make demands from the Government in public interest but unnecessarily calling for the Chief Minister’s resignation is not a positive sign, said the Chief Minister’s media adviser Surendra Kumar Agarwal while addressing the media here on Monday.”For the past couple of days some BJP leaders have been demanding the Chief Minister’s resignation, accusing the State Government of failing to deliver on various fronts. The BJP leaders are uneasy because the public voted for the Congress in the recently concluded Assembly by-elections and Panchayat elections after which the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra was also concluded successfully. We are being asked about the work done by the State Government in its two and a half years long term so far but we will go to the public with the work we do in our five-year term. The leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Ajay Bhatt has been seeking the CM’s resignation but he should seek the resignation of the five BJP MPs who have remained silent on the State’s demand for Rs4,000 crore package for disaster related works, green bonus and various railway projects in Uttarakhand.”
Responding to a question on dissent within the Congress in Uttarakhand, Agarwal averred that Congress is a democratic organisation wherein elected representatives enjoy the right to make demands and suggestions in public interest.
