BJP woos partymen to fare well in civic polls

Amid preparations for the local body polls for which schedule is yet to be decided, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are trying to unite the party men divided into two undeclared camps within the party in order to tread well in the civic polls and thereafter in general elections 2014.

Though it is an open secret, the party workers hastily rebuffed the fact with “all is well” and “there is no faction in the party”.

From local to state level BJP men claim that the Party would do very well in the local body elections and general elections. But they could not explain why they are so confident about the good performance in the polls. So much so, that they make tall claim about best performance in the General election.

Sanjay Gupta, State BJP general secretary (organisation), denied any factionalism within the party in an outright way. “There is no factionalism. We all are busy in preparations of local body elections. This time we have reached our ground level workers who are working hard to bring best results,” Kumar said.

He also said that local body polls would help us in testing our strength. “Its result would also have impact on general election. So we don’t want to leave any stone unturned to bring desired results. Hopefully, we are going to do well in various locations of the state,” Kumar claimed.  With the preparations for local bodies, the senior leaders want to strengthen their hold among the locals.

A functionary of the BJP Mahanagar unit said that elevation of Trivendra Singh Rawat to the post of BJP national secretary do weakened a camp. But it would not have any impact in local body polls. On the contrary, Rawat’s elevation to post would extend benefits to the party in local body elections.
