BJP will win Mandi by-election, says Thakur

Published on:

BJP candidate for the Mandi by-election Jai Ram Thakur on Monday claimed the party would win the election with a massive majority as the people of the State had been disillusioned with the 5-month tenure of Congress misrule and added that people were feeling cheated.

“It was a sad period of inaction when nothing except transfers, inquiries and witch hunting was done,” he told a news conference here.

Describing the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the Centre as a sinking ship, Thakur cautioned the people not to be misled by false and misleading hype often let

loose by the Congress leaders during the elections, who he alleged, were themselves involved in mega scams from head to toe.

“Congress came to power in the State by default by our own mistakes and now the people had gird up their loins to give a befitting defeat to the Congress candidate,” he said.

Earlier Thakur was given a rousing reception on way to Mandi from Shimla at various stations as he entered Mandi district. He claimed that many workers of Himachal lokhit Party were again willing to come back to the fold of the BJP and the party.

Congress is likely to field Pratibha Singh, wife of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, from the constituency.
