A few hours before the President’s Rule was imposed on the State, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat launched a blistering attack on the BJP on Sunday, saying that the saffron camp was pulling out all the stops to impose the President’s Rule.
“Vicious politics starting from one of their leaders breaking the mounted police horse’s leg would come full circle once my Government is ousted and President’s Rule is imposed,” he had said.
He further said that imposing President’s Rule as per the Constitutional provisions is not a child’s play. “The Constitution enjoins several procedures to be followed preceding the imposition of the rule. I hope they would not bulldoze the procedures in case of Uttarakhand. However, if it happens it would amount to murder of democracy,” he said.
In an acid-dripping attack against the BJP, he said they had unleashed money, muscle, Income Tax and everything at their disposal to trigger unrest in this sensitive border State.
He also condemned the former Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna’s statement that the Governor should be dismissed for giving CM too long a rope to face the floor test.
“This is an affront to the healthy functioning of democratic system,” he said, adding that his predecessor and other dissidents had saffronized themselves sufficiently to be camp followers of the communal RSS bloc.
Referring to the sting operation the video of which shows him purportedly luring dissident Congress MlAs by offering hefty sums and ministerial portfolios, CM said that the person who had made the sting was an immoral one himself. “He has been trying persistently to malign the image of my government,” he said, adding that he could not be browbeaten by such fictitious CD.
Averring that he had reached his present stature through his tireless works across the State for over three decades, he said the people would give BJP a befitting reply at the right time.
