Angered over police’s negligence leading to the death of a 12-year-old, Tushar Dhiman , in Roorkee in an incident of bomb explosion on Saturday, hundreds of VHP and BJP activists and the family members of the deceased blocked Delhi-Dehradun highway for half an hour and demanded a high level inquiry into the incident.
Soon after the incident, the protesters assembled and blocked the road while raising anti- State Government slogans, highlighting its failure to maintain law and order. Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Ram Singh Meena and DIG Sanjay Gunjyal rushed to the blast site to supervise search operation and investigation that followed. ADGP Meena reached the protest site and assured the protesters that a high level inquiry would be conducted. The agitators withdrew following the assurance.
