A woman was crushed to death on Sunday noon by a Bolero jeep which reportedly bore a flag of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The vehicle has been seized by the police. The jeep is said to be owned by a BJP leader from the rural area. The driver is absconding for whom the search is on, said the local police.
At 1:30 pm on Sunday when a woman was trying to cross the road near Nehru stadium in Roorkee, a jeep reportedly speeding rammed into her. When peple saw the woman falling they ran to rescue her but before they could come to her aid, she had been run over by the jeep. She was admitted to the hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Sumitra Devi from Jatav Basti, informed the police. She was crossing the Naya Pul when she was accidently hit by the jeep. The body of the victim was sent for post mortem examination to the civil hospital. There was no one seated in the jeep except the driver, say the witnesses.
