Stating that the Congress-led State Government lacked vision for development in Uttarakhand, former Assembly Speaker Harbans Kapoor claimed that BJP would comfortably win all five Parliamentary seats in the upcoming general elections. Kapoor also blamed the Government over deteriorating condition of basic amenities in the mountainous parts of the State.
Addressing the media at State party office here on Saturday, Kapoor claimed that the entire State was under the whirlwind of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and said that all five party’s candidate would comfortably win in the upcoming parliamentary elections in the State.
“The change of face in the State will not going to be proved fruitful for the Congress,” he said, adding that Congress-led State Government was yet to take effective steps for redressing the grievances of those villagers, who faced the brunt of natural calamities last year.
Announcing that Election Coordination Committee of the party for lok Sabha (Tehri) has been formed comprising 40 senior party leaders and activists, Kapoor said that committee had five MlAs which include Ganesh Joshi, Sahdev Pundir, Malchand, Bheem lal Arya and Mahaveer Rangad to look after the election affairs in the Tehri parliamentary constituency.
Besides, Tehri candidate Mala Rajya lakshmi Shah is also among the members for establishing coordination among the activists during campaigning. Among the other veteran party leaders who are part of the committee includes BJP national secretary Trivendra Singh Rawat, Municipal Corporation of Dehradun Mayor Vinod Chamoli, former cabinet minister Khajan Das and former MlA Munna Singh Chauhan. Kapoor also announced that lok Sabha Election Management Committee has been also framed comprising 34 party activists. Kapoor claimed that all party activists and leaders were united in order to win the parliamentary elections comfortably.
“Senior party leaders along with candidates have already started campaigning in their respective constituencies with an aim to woo voters to cast their votes in the favour of party,” he said, adding that party’s candidates will surely get mileage as the campaigning was started nearly fortnight ago in comparison to Congress candidates. Highlighting callous approach of the Congress-led State Government for not taking serious steps for redressing the grievances of displaced villagers, who faced the brunt of natural calamities, Kapoor said that villagers were traversing several kilometres to fetch their daily needs in the higher reaches of Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of the state.
