BJP to hold 10-day camps in disaster-hit areas

Published on:

The Opposition party in State Assembly — BJP — has decided to coordinate with local party activists and villagers in order to gauge the exact damage to the life and property in the recently experienced flash floods that wrecked havoc in Uttarakhand, last month.

The party workers will hold 10-day camps in the disaster-affected areas in the higher parts of Uttarakhand. Interestingly, the party has left no chance to corner the Congress-led State Government over the rescue operations and alleged that the State Government has completely failed to carry prompt and sufficient relief operations in the disaster-hit areas of Uttarakhand.

After terming the relief operations completely insufficient to redress the grievances of the stranded pilgrims and villagers, BJP State chief Tirath Singh Rawat constituted eight teams having senior party leaders for the disaster-hit district of Uttarakhand while chairing the party activists meeting at State party office in Dehradun on Friday.

Rawat said that the team will do camping in the disaster-hit areas of Uttarakhand for 10 days. The team will also do intense camping in disaster-hit villages and collect the data regarding casualties, victims, orphan, damaged property including commercial and residential complexes, damaged hospitals and Government buildings etc. Rawat told that the detail report would be tabled to Union and State Government, Uttarakhand Governor and party high command on July 14.

The party leaders lamented that the condition of villagers who are living in the remote area of the State are among the worst sufferers after facing the brunt of flash flood in the higher parts of State, last month and also demanded from the State Government to initiate immediate steps for rehabilitating displaced villagers.

The leader of Opposition in State Assembly, Ajay Bhatt, Sate General Secretary (Organisation) Sanjay Kumar, State General Secretary Prakash Pant, Gyan Singh Negi, Naresh Bansal, CM Nautiyal, Khajan Das, Madan Kaushik, Malchand, Mahender Bhatt, Atar Singh Tomar and many more were present.
