'BJP targeting Govt with misinformation'

Published on:

The BJP in Uttarakhand is spreading misinformation to target the State Government accusing it of failure while at the Centre; the NITI Aayog created by the BJP-led NDA Government has done little work in the last year and turned into a “national confusion commission”. Chief Minister Harish Rawat’s media in charge Surendra Kumar stated this while addressing the media here on Thursday.

He said, “During the BJP State executive meet held at Rudrapur in the past, it had been decided that the successful use of misinformation as done by the BJP for the lok Sabha elections would be repeated in Uttarakhand against the Congress-led State Government. As per its plan, the BJP is undertaking a misinformation campaign targeting Chief Minister Harish Rawat and the State Government. In the State executive meet of the BJP, the party leaders had said that it would be hard for the BJP to return to power in Uttarakhand as long as Rawat remains the CM. This is why the BJP is consistently spreading lies and even holding workshops to train its cadre in lying to frame the State Government.

The BJP has no moral right to speak on corruption. Before doing so it should first secure certificates from Swami Ramdev who had alleged that a BJP leader had sought Rs two crore bribe from him and from one of its own leaders who had said that the then BJP chief minister was among the most corrupt CMs in India.”

Targeting the NITI Aayog, Kumar said, “A year after its formation for replacing the Planning Commission, the NITI Aayog has been turned into a national confusion commission. Prominent economist Arvind Panagariya was brought to the NITI Aayog as its vice chairman but he has been without work for about a year now. There is also confusion regarding the role of this commission in the affixing of standards and guidelines for the States.

The role of the NITI Aayog governing council consisting of Chief Ministers of States and the national development council has not been fixed for a year now,” he said.

Regarding the allocations of funds to the States by the Centre, Kumar said the comparing the allocations in 2014-15 with those in 2015-16 reveals that allocation to the States under various heads have been slashed by Rs75,000 crore. There is also confusion in the States regarding the tied and untied ratio, added Kumar.
