Commenting on Chief Minister Harish Rawat reaching the Secretariat to work on some files, the Bharatiya Janata Party State president Ajay Bhatt has stated that at this time when polling for the Vidhan Sabha election has been completed with the election model code of conduct being in force, the Chief Minister does not have the right to take any policy decisions.
In a statement issued to the media, the BJP state president has stated that currently, after holding of the assembly elections a new government is to be formed in the state in less than a month's time. During this period the chief minister can also conduct routine tasks. However, the chief minister cannot take any policy decision or facilitate any type of benefit to anyone. Bhatt states, "As experience shows, Rawat and his advisors do not care about the rules and regulations. This makes it important to known which file the chief minister worked on.Hence, we demand the chief minister to explain what was the work that he did. If he does reveal this, it will mean that he is doing something which he does not have the right to do. It is our belief that the chief minister should work according to the present situation while also maintaining respect for the rules and traditions," says the BJP state president in the statement released to the media.
