BJP pulls up its socks for Assembly polls

Preparations for the upcoming Assembly polls slated next year is going on in full swing. The BJP is  now engaged in conducting assessment drive across the State before going for the selection of the party candidates.

The prospect assessment drive is being conducted with such strictness that no leader, including the State party president, is sure of getting nomination, said the State party chief Ajay Bhatt himself on Tuesday in Haridwar while he was addressing a Press Conference at the Dtate guest house. The party is soon going to launch door to door awareness campaign highlighting the loot of the State by Congress, he added.

Bhatt said, “A survey is being conducted across the State by the BJP to finalise its candidates for the upcoming State Assembly election. Based on the report card of their performance, the party candidates will be selected.” When asked  to  give some hints as to who could be the prospective candidates, Bhatt said  that even he was not sure whether his ticket was final or not.

He further said, “No ticket has been finalised till now. The decision will be taken by Parliamentary Board of the party. All, including those who have been recently  inducted in the  party from the Congress, would have  to wait for the Parliamentary Board to  take the final call.”

“If someone wishes to leave the party on  being denied  tickets he is free to do so.” However, he hastened to add that Congress being a sinking ship, returning to it would be suicidal.

Slamming the Harish Rawat Government for its alleged all-round failure, particularly on the economic front, Bhatt said that it was awaiting its drubbing in the polls. “The Government has been unable to utilise the sanctioned budget and they are still crying for funds from the Centre. Centre Government has already allotted `40,000 crore which is 156 percent higher than what the previous Government released,”  he said.

Accounting for the delay in the release of funds by the Centre in the Financial Year, Bhatt said that State Government had not prepared its district plan on time. “Budget plans by some of districts in the State for this Financial Year 2016-17 have been submitted after six months by many of the districts. To top it all, the district planning commission has not been formed in Haridwar,” the Opposition  leader  said.

Bhatt dared the State Government to prove him wrong. “I  would quit public life if they do,” Bhatt  said.
