BJP protests against Govt 'neglect' of party MlAs' constituencies

Accusing the Congress-led State Government of neglecting the constituencies represented by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MlAs, hundreds of BJP activists led by Mussoorie MlA Ganesh Joshi gheraoed the Secretariat on Monday. The agitators shouted slogans against the State Government and demanded efficient execution of developmental projects in the constituencies having BJP MlAs in the state.
Step-motherly treatment is being meted out to the development of the constituencies where the people had chosen to elect persons from the principal Opposition party of the State, said Ganesh Joshi, adding that the bureaucrats had become parts of the vicious scheme. The party will resort to full-blown movement against the state government if the state of things continues, he warned.
Hundreds of BJP activists assembled at Parade Ground and carried out a rally up to the Secretariat while shouting anti-state government slogans. The rally passed through several crossings before it reached the Secretariat.  The protesters were stopped at barricade set up outside the Secretariat. The police were seen arguing  with  the agitators as the latter seemed out  to break the barricade. later, they squatted there and continued with their protest.
BJP leaders addressed the gathering from there.
Joshi alleged that several developmental projects approved by the Chief Minister are not being implemented by the administrative officers.  People are outraged over the bureaucrats stonewalling development at the behest of the partisan state government. “Would the Chief Minister own the responsibility and clear decks for development in these constituencies or would continue being indecisive as far as the execution of the development projects approved from his end is concernedIJ” the MlA asked.
“Take for instance the project of  a multipurpose parking lot cleared for execution in Mussoorie. It  was approved with an estimation of Rs 31.95 crores under 13th Finance Commission and GO was released and tender was also released on December 12, 2014. But the tender was cancelled later. On February 15, a new GO was released.  However,  the design of the parking lot was changed. Instead of implementing the scheme, the officers concerned are sitting on it.  In another such instance, construction of 15 kilometre stretch of roads involving various places - Garhi Cantt, Rajendra Nagar, Salawala, Aryanagar, Dobhalwala, Rajpur and Sahastradhara- was announced by the Chief Minister on February 13.  But it is yet to be executed by the department officers,” he alleged.
